Who are we?

The New Zealand Racing Board is unlike any other organisation you will find in New Zealand. We are a leading business in the racing, entertainment and sporting fields. We have more than 100,000 TAB Account holders and a nationwide presence with around 700 TAB stores and retail outlets across the country as well as three inbound contact centres. We also manage New Zealand's only global online betting service – the tab.co.nz website. The New Zealand Racing Board owns and operates its own 24-hour television channel – Trackside Television – as well as its own radio network – Radio Trackside.

The New Zealand Racing Board is the organisation behind all racing and sports wagering in New Zealand. It was established under legislation – the Racing Act 2003 – and merged the previous Racing Industry Board and the TAB. Each year we generate around $1.5 billion dollars in turnover, with profits distributed to the three racing Codes - Harness, Thoroughbred and Greyhound. We also stimulate funding for almost 30 national sporting organisations. In fact, since the inception of sports betting in 1996, we have distributed almost $20 million to various sporting bodies. There is no question the racing industry offers huge entertainment value and it is our job to continue developing that industry.

We have a diverse and multi-skilled workforce dedicated to providing a wide range of services to our customers from racing and sports betting services (both on and off course), racing form and information, and radio and television broadcasting. All of these services are backed up by highly qualified technical and corporate support.

We enjoy our work. We are passionate about our business and that is reflected in how we work. The New Zealand Racing Board demonstrates how it values its employees by providing competitive salaries, subsidised medical insurance, and a range of other initiatives. In our National Office in Petone we also offer gymnasium facilities, cafeteria services and we have an active social committee partially funded by the business that organises a diverse range of social activities for our employees to enjoy.
